Camren Hunter has been named the ASUN Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The announcement follows a strong performance by Hunter, who helped lead the Central Arkansas Bears to two victories last week, extending their winning streak to five games.
In recent matchups, the Bears defeated Queens in North Carolina and Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) at home. Hunter scored 31 points against Queens and followed with 32 points versus EKU, marking his season highs. Over these two games, he made 25 out of 37 shots from the field and hit 7 of 13 attempts from three-point range. Additionally, Hunter contributed seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks, one steal, and committed only two turnovers during this period.
For the season so far, Hunter is averaging 18.7 points per game overall and 21.9 points per game in conference play. The Bears currently hold third place in the ASUN standings with a record of seven wins and two losses.
Coach John Shulman commented on Hunter’s performance: “Cam had a great week, but to be honest. Cam truly only cares about winning and that makes him uncommon! And that’s a good thing.”
Looking ahead, Central Arkansas will play at home against UNA on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., travel to Lipscomb for a Saturday game at 4 p.m., and then face UNA again on the road next Monday at 6 p.m.
