Four athletes from Central Arkansas participated in the opening day of two major indoor track and field meets on Friday. The teams were represented at both the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.
Jack Dingman competed in Boston and set a new school record for Central Arkansas in the one-mile run. Dingman finished with a time of 4:01.73, which was nearly two seconds faster than his previous record, earning him 36th place out of 283 competitors.
In Fayetteville, Jaden Schneeberger finished 18th in the men’s weight throw with a distance of 20.86 meters. Madeline Hill ran in the women’s 3000-meter event, finishing 16th with a time of 9:42.85. Joia Perry also competed on the women’s side, placing 22nd in the weight throw with a mark of 19.27 meters.
The competition continues Saturday with Bailee Villavaso starting off for Central Arkansas in the women’s pole vault at 10:45 a.m., followed by Dingman running again in the men’s one-mile at 11:40 a.m., and Schneeberger competing in the men’s shot put at 2 p.m.
