The Central Arkansas track and field teams have received two weekly honors from the Atlantic Sun Conference following their first indoor competition of the season. Senior Jaden Schneeberger was named Men’s Field Performer of the Week, while freshman Jane Musengwa earned Women’s Freshman of the Week recognition after competing at the Arkansas Invitational.
Head coach Josey Weaver commented on their achievements: “I’m not surprised that Jaden and Jane are being recognized this week for their performances at the Arkansas Invitational. They are two individuals who work tirelessly at their craft.”
Schneeberger began his season in Fayetteville with a third-place finish in the weight throw, achieving a personal best of 20.57 meters, and placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 16.26 meters. His performance marked Central Arkansas’ first top-three finish of the season and one of only two by Bears athletes at the meet.
“Jaden is accustomed to winning these awards,” Weaver said. “He has wholeheartedly embraced what it means to be a Bear and consistently lives up to both our expectations and his own.”
Musengwa made her debut for Central Arkansas by setting new personal records in both her events. She finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 13.53 meters and placed 11th in the weight throw with a mark of 15.02 meters.
“Jane is a newcomer — what I like to call a ‘silent killer,'” Weaver said. “She’s one of the sweetest, nicest individuals you’ll ever meet, but once she steps into the circle, she’s incredibly competitive and fiery. There’s much more to come for her and her career as a Bear.”
The team is scheduled to compete again on January 30th at the Washburn Open and Multi in Topeka, Kansas.
