The University of Central Arkansas Bears men’s basketball team will face the Jacksonville University Dolphins at the Farris Center on Thursday, with tip-off scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The Bears currently hold a record of 7-10 overall and 2-2 in ASUN play, while the Dolphins are 6-11 overall and 1-3 in conference games.
Central Arkansas has yet to secure a win against Jacksonville in their previous six meetings. Their last encounter took place in Conway, where the Dolphins won 77-62. The first meeting between these teams occurred in January 2022 in Florida, resulting in a 79-59 victory for Jacksonville.
The Bears return home after two overtime losses on the road in Kentucky, facing Bellarmine and Eastern Kentucky University (EKU). In both contests, Central Arkansas forced overtime with late jumpers—Javion Guy-King at Bellarmine and Camren Hunter at EKU—but were unable to maintain leads during the extra periods.
Camren Hunter is averaging 20.8 points per game in ASUN competition, while Ty Robinson is contributing an average of 20 points per game. As a team, Central Arkansas is scoring an average of 82.75 points per game during conference play and shooting 45 percent from the field, 35 percent from three-point range, and 78 percent from the free throw line.
Jacksonville recently earned its first ASUN win by defeating previously unbeaten University of West Georgia. Prior to that victory, the Dolphins had been outscored by opponents by a combined margin of 176-224 over three losses. Jaylen Jones (11.3 points per game) and Donovan Rivers (10.5 points per game) are leading scorers for Jacksonville during ASUN matchups. The team averages 62.75 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field, 37 percent from beyond the arc, and converting on 60 percent of their free throws during conference play.
