The University of Central Arkansas Bears men’s basketball team will conclude its non-conference schedule with a game against the Southern Methodist Mustangs on Sunday, December 21. The matchup is set for 1 p.m. at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas.
This contest marks the second meeting between the two programs. Their previous encounter was in Dallas in 2010, where the Mustangs won 76-72. Following this game, the Bears will begin ASUN conference play on New Year’s Day.
Central Arkansas enters the game with a record of 5-7 and is seeking its first road win of the season. The team recently hosted an Education Day event at home, drawing over 2,000 elementary and middle school students who watched the Bears secure a 102-47 victory. The Bears have performed strongly at home this season with a 5-1 record, winning their five home games by an average margin of 37.6 points. Cam Hunter and Ty Robinson are leading scorers for Central Arkansas, averaging 16.3 and 12.2 points per game respectively.
The Southern Methodist Mustangs hold a 9-2 record and remain undefeated at home with seven wins. Their only losses occurred at Vanderbilt and during a neutral site game against LSU in New Orleans. In their nine victories, the Mustangs have outscored opponents by an average of 17.4 points per game. Five SMU players are averaging double figures: Boopie Miller (20.2), Jaron Pierre Jr. (19.2), Corey Washington (12.9), B.J. Edwards (12.5), and Samet Yigitogiu (11.4).
