The University of Central Arkansas Bears men’s basketball team will face the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in an ASUN Conference game at the Farris Center on Saturday. The Bears, with a record of 11-10 overall and 6-2 in conference play, are coming off a four-game winning streak in ASUN competition. Their most recent victory was a 100-90 win over Queens in Charlotte, marking the first time the Bears have scored 100 points against an ASUN opponent.

In that game, Camren Hunter led with a season-high 31 points, shooting 12-for-18 from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range. Luke Moore and Cole McCormick each contributed 19 points, while Javion Guy-King added 13 and Ty Robinson scored 11 points, making all three of his three-point attempts in the second half. The Bears are averaging 85 points per game in conference play, shooting 48% from the field, 37% from beyond the arc, and 78% from the free throw line.

Earlier this month, Central Arkansas lost to Eastern Kentucky in overtime when both teams shot 43% from the field. However, Eastern Kentucky had an advantage from three-point range at 42%, compared to Central Arkansas’s 30%. Camren Hunter scored 25 points in that contest and forced overtime with a jumper late in regulation.

Since their previous meeting with Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky has lost three consecutive games and holds a conference record of 3-6 (7-15 overall). During their losing streak, they fell to Austin Peay at home by eight points, lost in overtime at Jacksonville, and were defeated by UNF by two points. In their last match-up against Central Arkansas, Juan Cranford Jr led Eastern Kentucky with 20 points and Austin Ball added 18. Montavious Myrick currently leads Eastern Kentucky in ASUN games with an average of 13.4 points per game. As a team, they are scoring an average of 82 points per game while shooting 47% from the floor, nearly 39% from three-point range, and about 71% on free throws during conference play.

Saturday’s tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., following the Sugar Bears’ game against Stetson Hatters at 1 p.m., as part of a doubleheader event. Both games will be included in a “Pink Out” promotion sponsored by Conway Regional Health System. A silent auction will take place during both games to raise funds for a community member battling cancer.
