The University of Central Arkansas Bears are set to face the West Georgia Wolves in an ASUN men’s basketball match-up at the Farris Center in Conway on Saturday, with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The Bears enter the game with a 16-10 overall record and an 11-2 mark in conference play. Their opponents, the Wolves, hold a 12-13 overall record and are 6-7 in the ASUN.
The two teams previously met on January 22nd in Carrollton, where Central Arkansas secured an 86-65 victory. In that contest, Ty Robinson led the Bears with 22 points, hitting four out of five attempts from three-point range. Cole McCormick added 15 points on six-for-seven shooting. Other Bears players reaching double figures included Camren Hunter and Truman Byrne with 12 each and Luke Moore with 11.
Central Arkansas comes into Saturday’s game riding a nine-game winning streak, most recently defeating Bellarmine 84-76. In that game, Camren Hunter contributed 18 points and eight rebounds, bringing him within two points of reaching 500 for the season. Ty Robinson scored 15 points (four-of-six from beyond the arc), while Luke Moore had 14 (also four-of-six from three), Javion Guy-King scored 12, and Cole McCormick chipped in with ten. The team forced Bellarmine into committing sixteen turnovers, converting those into twenty-one points.
At home this season, Central Arkansas has posted a strong record of twelve wins against one loss and remains unbeaten (7-0) in ASUN home games. During conference play, they have averaged eighty-four points per game while shooting forty-eight percent from the field, thirty-seven percent from three-point range, and seventy-three percent from the free throw line.
West Georgia enters Saturday’s match-up after back-to-back victories over Jacksonville at home last weekend and UNA earlier this week on the road. Shelton Williams-Dryden leads the Wolves during ASUN competition by averaging twenty-three point four points and ten point two rebounds per game. Josh Smith (16.6) and Malcolm Noel (10) also average double figures for West Georgia in league play. As a team during conference games, West Georgia averages seventy-six points per contest while shooting forty-five percent overall, thirty-three percent from three-point distance, and seventy-two percent at the free throw line.
