The Central Arkansas Bears baseball team will travel to Nashville to face the Lipscomb University Bisons in a three-game ASUN Conference series starting Friday, Apr. 9. The games are scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
This weekend’s matchup marks the halfway point of the ASUN regular season schedule for both teams. After this series, the conference schedule will reset for a second round of games at alternate locations. The Bears and Bisons have met 17 times as ASUN opponents, with Lipscomb holding a narrow lead in the series at nine wins to eight. Last season, Lipscomb won four out of six regular-season matchups, but Central Arkansas defeated them in the ASUN tournament.
Earlier this week, Central Arkansas secured a mid-week home win over the Golden Lions by scoring eight runs in the seventh inning and winning 9-6. Sam Reynolds contributed significantly with a bases-clearing double that drove in three runs during that big inning. Jagger Schattle hit a home run in the first inning and is currently on a four-game hitting streak with homers in his last two games. Jake Jones earned the win on the mound after pitching effectively late in the game, while Jacob Pannell started strong by allowing just one run over five innings.
In conference play this season, Central Arkansas has posted a .254 batting average with 101 hits and a .430 slugging percentage; their opponents have hit .285 with 118 hits and a .488 slugging percentage. The Bisons come into this weekend following a close loss against Middle Tennessee State University earlier this week.
Lipscomb infielder Cam Pruitt leads his team offensively with a .355 batting average, sixteen runs scored, thirty-nine hits including eight doubles, thirty runs batted in (RBI), along with strong slugging and on-base percentages. Their top pitcher has been reliever Adam Jamison who holds an earned run average (ERA) of 2.97 across more than thirty innings pitched.
All three games between Central Arkansas and Lipscomb will be broadcast on ESPN+ as well as The Bear 91.3 radio station; live statistics will also be available online.
