The Central Arkansas Bears women’s golf team secured third place at the Diamante Intercollegiate tournament, held at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village from October 19 to 21. The event followed a three-day stroke play format, with one round played each day.
The Bears finished the tournament at three under par. The team averaged 3.03 on par 3 holes and 4.07 on par 4s, recording 173 pars, 46 birdies, and one eagle during the event.
Alethea Gaccion led the Bears with a two-under-par performance over three rounds, finishing ninth individually. Her scores were -1 in both the first and second rounds and even par in the third. Maggie Huett and Gudrun Thorsteinsdottir both finished at one under par for the tournament, tying for 12th place. Huett’s rounds were -1, +1, and -1, while Thorsteinsdottir shot even par, -1, and even par in her three rounds.
Valeria Ramirez completed the event at three over par with scores of even par, +3, and even par. Aubrey Marx finished at +15 for the tournament after shooting +7, +1, and +7 in her rounds.
Two additional Bears golfers competed as individuals. Nanami Hayakawa posted a score of +1 for the event with rounds of -1, -2, and +4. Camila Negroni finished at +7 after shooting +2, +3, and +2.
The team’s next and final event of the fall season will be The Judson in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on October 27 and 28.
