Three members of the Central Arkansas Bears women’s soccer team have been named to the Academic All-ASUN Team, as announced by the Atlantic Sun Conference. The honorees are Brianna Lopez, Megan Moudy, and Lea Duus Madsen.
To be selected for this recognition, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 and participate in at least half of their team’s matches during the season. All three athletes were noted for their significant roles both on and off the field.
Head coach Derek Nichols said, “To have Lea, Megan, and Bri make the All-Academic Team is a testament to not only what they do on the field, but in the classroom as well. They are extremely hard workers in everything they do and are great ambassadors of our program. It’s a great honor to have those three represented on the All-Academic Team.”
Brianna Lopez is concluding her collegiate career with a 3.56 GPA while majoring in Health Promotions. This season, she contributed to a midfield that recorded 25 goals and 26 assists, along with helping achieve three defensive shutouts and limiting seven other teams to just one goal each.
Megan Moudy has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA as a nursing student through her junior year. She was among the top playmakers in the conference this season, leading her team with five assists—ranking within the conference’s top ten.
Lea Duus Madsen holds a 3.87 GPA as she completes her Management degree. Coming off the bench, she scored two goals this season: one against Little Rock and another game-winner versus Bellarmine during an ASUN victory.
This marks the third consecutive season that multiple Central Arkansas Bears women’s soccer players have received ASUN academic honors.
