Central Arkansas secured a 79-62 win over West Georgia on Saturday at the Farris Center, earning a first-round bye in the ASUN Tournament. The Bears improved their record to 17-10 overall and 12-2 in conference play.
The Bears established control early in the game. Javion Guy-King opened the scoring less than a minute into play, assisted by Luke Moore. Camren Hunter and Ty Robinson contributed points to help Central Arkansas build a 13-8 lead within the first five minutes. Truman Byrne added two three-pointers, and Moore scored consistently in the paint, pushing the Bears’ advantage to 30-17 midway through the first half. West Georgia responded with efforts from Brady Hardewig, but Central Arkansas maintained a nine-point lead at halftime.
Luke Moore led Central Arkansas with a career-high 21 points and also recorded five assists. In the second half, Ty Robinson hit key three-pointers and free throws to finish with 23 points and 10 rebounds—his first double-double of the season. Guy-King added nine points, three rebounds, and two steals.
Central Arkansas scored 38 points in the paint and forced West Georgia into 14 turnovers during the game. The team outscored West Georgia by eight points in the second half for a final margin of victory of 17.
The win marks Central Arkansas’s twelfth conference victory as a Division I program, setting a new school record.
Following this win, Central Arkansas will play its next game against Stetson in DeLand, Florida, on Thursday, February 19 at 7 p.m.
