The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears women’s volleyball team secured a 3–1 win over Jacksonville University on Saturday morning at the Prince Center. The match featured close set scores of 26–28, 30–28, 25–18, and 26–24.
Laci Bohannan led the Sugar Bears’ offense with 26 kills and a .440 hitting percentage. She also recorded 10 digs for her ninth double-double of the season, reaching a new season high in kills. The team finished with a .265 hitting percentage compared to Jacksonville’s .173.
Setter Caylan Koons contributed with 46 assists, three kills, and 11 digs. Gabby Tuiaana added 12 kills on a .333 hitting percentage along with two blocks. Greyson Button tallied nine kills at .333 and led the team with seven block assists as part of UCA’s total of ten team blocks.
On defense, Alexis McDaniel collected 16 digs while McKinzee Haas registered ten total blocks.
After losing the first set in extra points, Central Arkansas rallied to win the next three sets—two of which also required extra points—holding Jacksonville to just .093 hitting in the fourth set. The Sugar Bears narrowly trailed in total digs but outperformed their opponent at key moments.
The victory improved Central Arkansas’ overall record to 12–10 and brought them to a tie with Jacksonville at 9–3 in ASUN Conference play.
Before the match, Central Arkansas honored its senior class: #1 Laci Bohannan, #6 Caylan Koons, #11 Samantha Cousins, #15 Brinley Burdette, and #22 Alexis McDaniel.
Central Arkansas is scheduled to play Austin Peay and Lipscomb on their upcoming road trip to Tennessee.
