Central Arkansas secured a decisive 85-47 victory over Little Rock in the Governors I-40 Showdown at the Farris Center on Wednesday night. The Bears improved their record to 4-5 for the season, while Little Rock dropped to 2-6.
Central Arkansas set the tone early, taking a 53-19 lead into halftime. Ty Robinson hit a three-pointer at the 18:14 mark to give Central Arkansas an early advantage, and they maintained control throughout the game. Camren Hunter added a layup at 12:41 in the first half, helping to extend the lead to double digits.
The Bears capitalized on Little Rock’s turnovers, forcing 16 steals and converting those into 27 points. In total, Little Rock committed 14 turnovers in the first half alone, which Central Arkansas turned into fast-break opportunities and an 11-point boost from turnovers.
In the second half, Central Arkansas continued their strong play by outscoring Little Rock 32-28. Robinson contributed with multiple baskets, including two layups and another three-pointer. Luke Moore added a key three-pointer at 16:37 of the second half.
On defense, Central Arkansas held firm against any comeback attempts from Little Rock. Consistent free-throw shooting helped them maintain their lead until the final buzzer.
Individual performances included Camren Hunter scoring 19 points on seven of twelve shooting and recording four steals. Ty Robinson finished with 15 points, six assists—a career high—and eight rebounds, his best this season. Luke Moore added eleven points with three successful three-pointers and two steals. Harrison Beauchamp set career highs with nine points and three made field goals from beyond the arc. Parker Applegate also achieved a career-high ten points.
Central Arkansas has won all five of its home games this year by an average margin of twenty-five points per game.
Looking ahead, Central Arkansas will travel to Commerce, Texas to face East Texas A&M on Sunday, December 7th at 5 p.m.
