Central Arkansas secured an 86-65 victory over West Georgia on Thursday night at The Coliseum in Carrollton, Georgia. This win brings the Bears to a 10-10 overall record and 5-2 in ASUN conference play. It is the first time since the 2021-22 season that Central Arkansas has reached ten wins, and marks their first three-game conference winning streak since the 2018-19 season.
The Bears took advantage of West Georgia’s mistakes, scoring 27 points off 22 turnovers by the Wolves. In the opening half, Malchiah Marable gave Central Arkansas an early lead with a layup, but West Georgia quickly answered with a three-pointer from Brady Hardewig. Shelton Williams-Dryden contributed for West Georgia with several baskets inside, while Camren Hunter closed out the half for Central Arkansas with a late three-pointer. By halftime, Central Arkansas led 43-34 after recording 13 assists and six steals.
In the second half, Ty Robinson helped extend Central Arkansas’s lead by scoring quickly and consistently. He finished with 22 points on eight-of-twelve shooting, including four-of-five from beyond the arc and added three steals. Luke Moore supported with both scoring and passing, ending with 13 points and six assists. Camren Hunter also made significant contributions on both ends of the court, finishing with twelve points, six assists, and two steals.
Cole McCormick provided momentum for Central Arkansas in transition plays and set a career-high of fifteen points along with three steals. Truman Byrne also achieved a personal best of twelve points during the game.
West Georgia’s Brady Hardewig tried to keep his team in contention by hitting two second-half three-pointers but was unable to close the gap as Central Arkansas maintained control through fast-break opportunities capped by McCormick’s dunk late in the game.
