Central Arkansas secured its sixth straight win with an 81-60 victory over North Alabama on Wednesday night at the Farris Center. The Bears improved to 13-10 overall and 8-2 in ASUN play, while North Alabama dropped to 7-14 overall and 2-8 in conference.
The Bears pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Lions 41-21. Central Arkansas also received significant support from its bench, which contributed 31 points.
The game started with a quick exchange of baskets. North Alabama’s Corneilous Williams opened scoring with a layup before Ty Robinson responded with a three-pointer for Central Arkansas at the 19:05 mark. Luke Moore assisted Javion Guy-King for another three-pointer at 17:26, helping the Bears take a 9-4 lead. Moore finished with seven assists, surpassing his season average of 3.55.
North Alabama kept the game close through much of the first half. Donte Bacchus scored a layup at 16:04 for the Lions, and Dallas Howell gave them a brief lead late in the period. However, Camren Hunter and Tyler Lee answered with layups for Central Arkansas to secure a narrow halftime advantage at 40-39.
Central Arkansas began the second half on a decisive run, opening with nine unanswered points sparked by Hunter’s layup at 19:06 off an assist from Moore. Moore added a three-pointer that pushed their lead to four points early in the half. The Bears continued their momentum with another strong stretch, including a fast-break layup by Moore that increased their lead to eight points midway through the period.
Central Arkansas made 14 three-point field goals during the game, exceeding its season average of just under eleven per contest. The team also recorded at least nineteen assists for the second consecutive game.
A late three-pointer by Harrison Beauchamp further extended Central Arkansas’ lead as they closed out an emphatic win over North Alabama.
After this victory, Central Arkansas will travel to Nashville to face Lipscomb on Saturday, February 7th.
Luke Moore finished with fifteen points, seven assists, and two steals; Ty Robinson had twelve points along with three steals and seven rebounds; Cole McCormick scored fourteen points on six-of-ten shooting; and Javion Guy-King added twelve points—including four made three-pointers—and four rebounds.
