The Central Arkansas men’s soccer team is set to begin its postseason run in the ASUN Championship, facing Stetson in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday. The match will start at 6 p.m. CT.
Central Arkansas finished the regular season with a 4-9-2 overall record and a 3-2-1 mark in ASUN play, securing the No. 2 seed in the ASUN Gold Division. The team went undefeated at home against conference opponents, posting a 3-0 record in Conway.
The Bears have relied on balanced scoring this season. Devonte Richards leads the team with five goals, while Maxim Sheenko and Michael Oliveri each have four goals. Lucas Shearer has provided five assists, and five players have contributed two assists each.
Central Arkansas has not faced Stetson this year due to the league’s divisional format. Their last meeting resulted in a 3-0 win for Central Arkansas, who led by one goal at halftime before adding two more in the second half.
In recent years, Central Arkansas has found success in the ASUN Championship tournament, reaching three finals over four seasons and making it to last year’s championship match after scoring three goals in each game of their postseason run—including a shutout against Stetson.
Stetson enters as the No. 3 seed from the ASUN Graphite Division with a 5-8-2 overall record and a 2-3-1 conference record. The Hatters secured their spot by defeating North Florida 4-1 on senior day and winning a tiebreaker over FGCU for the final tournament berth.
Stetson’s non-conference schedule included games against ranked teams and Power Four opponents, which contributed to their current record but also helped them gain experience ahead of conference play. In six ASUN matches, Stetson scored seven goals—though all came during two wins: against FGCU (3-1) and North Florida (4-1). They were held scoreless in their other four conference matches.
Saturday’s match will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live statistics available online.
