Central Arkansas improved its record in the ASUN Conference to 2-0 after defeating Stetson 93-73 at the Farris Center on Saturday night. The Bears, now 7-8 overall, used a strong defensive effort and contributions from their bench to secure the win.
Central Arkansas took control early, building a 41-28 lead by halftime. Camren Hunter led the team with 21 points, surpassing his season average, and contributed several steals on defense. Truman Byrne added two three-pointers and finished with a career-high 11 points. The Bears capitalized on Stetson’s mistakes, scoring 19 points off of 15 turnovers and getting 38 points from their bench.
Stetson’s Jamie Phillips Jr. tried to keep his team close with a late first-half three-pointer, but Central Arkansas maintained its advantage through efficient scoring both inside and at the free-throw line.
In the second half, Ty Robinson made two free throws to extend the lead to 43-28 just after play resumed. Robinson continued his recent form by reaching at least 20 points for the third straight game. Stetson briefly narrowed the gap with a three-pointer from Ethan Copeland, but Hunter responded quickly with another layup. A key moment came when Hunter hit a three-pointer midway through the half to push the lead to 66-43.
The Bears kept control for the remainder of the game and finished with a comfortable margin.
