The Central Arkansas women’s basketball team will play against Lipscomb at the Farris Center on Saturday, with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m. This is the only meeting between the two teams this season.
Central Arkansas, holding a record of 12-10 overall and 5-5 in ASUN conference play, comes into the game after a decisive win over Queens in Charlotte. The Sugar Bears won 64-39, helped by junior guard Cheyanne Kemp’s career-high 26 points and ten rebounds, marking her first double-double with the team. The Sugar Bears’ defense limited Queens to just six points in the first quarter and forced 19 turnovers.
Kemp has played a significant role for Central Arkansas this season. The team is 6-3 when she scores at least 15 points and 9-1 when she records multiple assists. Kemp averages 12.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, along with contributing assists, steals, and blocks.
Central Arkansas faced Lipscomb three times last season. The Sugar Bears won by double digits at home but had closer games on the road and in postseason play. In Nashville, Bree Stephens secured a win with a last-second shot, while strong defense led to another victory during postseason competition.
Lipscomb enters Saturday’s matchup with an overall record of 8-14 and a conference record of 5-6. In their most recent game, they lost narrowly to Eastern Kentucky, who leads the ASUN standings. Turnovers were an issue for Lipscomb as they committed 22 against Eastern Kentucky.
Lipscomb relies on Molly Heard (13.9 points per game) and McKayla Miller (12.3 points per game), both of whom contribute significantly to one of the stronger three-point shooting teams in the conference.
Saturday’s game will be available for streaming on ESPN+ and live stats will be accessible online. Fans can also listen to radio coverage from Steve Owens on The Bear 91.3.
