The Central Arkansas softball team secured two victories on the second day of the Bearkat Classic in Huntsville, Texas. The Bears defeated Creighton 10-2 and South Dakota 3-2 in back-to-back games on Saturday.
In the first game against Creighton, Central Arkansas quickly took a 2-0 lead after hits from Addie Graham, Trinity Brandon, and Kaitlyn Graham. After Creighton scored in the third inning to cut the deficit, Emma Robertson responded for the Bears with a hit that drove in two more runs. Grace Molitor also contributed with a double that extended the lead.
Central Arkansas continued to add runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by another key hit from Robertson that scored two runners. In the fifth inning, Trinity Brandon ended the game early with a home run past left field after Gracie St. Hilaire and Molitor reached base.
In their second game of the day against South Dakota, Central Arkansas overcame an early 2-0 deficit. Kaitlyn Graham singled to start off an important fourth inning before Emma Robertson tied the game with her second home run of the day. The Bears took their final lead in the fifth when Addie Graham walked and later scored on a double by Brandon.
Freshman pitcher Jaleigh White made her collegiate debut for Central Arkansas, pitching all seven innings while allowing seven hits and striking out three batters.
The Bears are scheduled to play Sam Houston at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday to close out their participation in the Bearkat Classic.
