Three athletes from Central Arkansas were recognized by the ASUN Conference with Performer of the Week awards, according to an announcement made Wednesday. Jaden Schneeberger was named Men’s Field Performer of the Week, Joia Perry earned Women’s Field Performer of the Week, and Zoe Williams received Women’s Freshman of the Week honors.
Schneeberger earned his second Field Performer of the Week award this indoor season after winning first place in the weight throw at last weekend’s Washburn Open and Multi meet. He achieved a throw of 19.56 meters (64-02.25), surpassing more than 40 competitors in that event. Additionally, he finished fourth in shot put with a mark of 16.61 meters (54-06).
Perry broke her own school record in the women’s weight throw with a distance of 20.42 meters (67-00), exceeding her previous best by nearly half a meter. Her performance was seven feet farther than her closest competitor and secured her first place among 43 athletes.
Williams received her first career honor as Women’s Freshman of the Week after setting two new records in the women’s 60m hurdles. She placed fourth overall in qualifying with a time of 8.57 seconds, breaking the indoor school record, and improved her time to 8.45 seconds in finals to finish third.
The team is scheduled to compete again on Saturday, February 7, at the Wooo Pig Classic in Fayetteville, where field events will start at 11 a.m., followed by running events at noon.
