The Central Arkansas track and field teams secured both men’s and women’s titles at the 2026 ASUN Indoor Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. This marks the second consecutive year that both squads have won their respective championships. The men’s team finished with an 83-point lead, while the women’s team claimed victory by 36 points. Across all events, Central Arkansas athletes collected a total of 27 medals, including 11 golds.

Central Arkansas head coach Josey Weaver commented on the team’s performance: “Winning a championship isn’t about being perfect – it’s about responding when you’re challenged,” Weaver said. “At the beginning of the year, we told our team that the ASUN didn’t belong to us. If we wanted it, we had to go earn it. That’s exactly what they did.”

Weaver was named ASUN Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year for both men’s and women’s teams for the second straight season. “That honor [Coach of the Year] simply means my team has my back,” he said. “That’s a team award. It doesn’t happen without our assistant coaches, our athletic trainers, and every single athlete on our team.”

Among individual achievements, Brenae Allen was recognized as Women’s ASUN Indoor Championships Most Valuable Performer after winning gold in both the 60-meter dash (7.36 seconds) and 200-meter dash (23.68 seconds), earning her team a total of 24 points.

Jaden Schneeberger set a new school record in shot put with a throw of 18.31 meters (60-01), surpassing his own previous mark from last year’s event by nearly six feet over his closest competitor.

Other notable performances included Maverick Walker’s first-place finish in triple jump with a leap of 14.71 meters (48-03.25) and Nathan Uptagrafft’s win in men’s heptathlon with 5190 points overall.

Keaton Hansard took gold in the men’s 400-meter race with a time of 47 seconds—setting another school record.

The Bears also swept all three podium spots in the women’s 60-meter dash: Brenae Allen took gold (7.36), Troynelle Miller silver (7.40), and Danyelle Poole bronze (7.54).

Additional podium finishes came from Gabriel Torres, who set a school record en route to silver in the men’s 60-meter dash (6.70); Clifton McBride earned silver in men’s 200-meter dash (21.53); Zoe Williams took silver in women’s 60-meter hurdles (8.49); Danyelle Poole earned bronze in women’s 200-meter dash (23.76); and Jane Musengwa captured bronze in women’s shot put (14.14m, 46-04.75).

Weaver reflected on his team’s unity: “I’m incredibly proud of the individual accomplishments that paved the way for these team titles, but what makes this special is how connected and resilient this group is,” he said.”It was not a perfect day for us, but it was a weekend full of giving our all. Most of all,I’m proud of how we handled the pressure,we embraced it.We didn’t run from expectations–we rose to them.”
