Central Arkansas defeated Lipscomb University 12–6 on April 10 at Ken Dugan Field in Nashville, Tennessee. The Bears secured the win with a five-run eighth inning and two home runs during the contest.
The game began with Lipscomb taking an early lead, scoring three runs in the second inning. Central Arkansas responded in the fourth when Nate Negre scored on a sacrifice fly by Jack Runsick. In the fifth, Keaton Laidley singled and later scored on Negre’s RBI single before Jagger Schattle hit a three-run homer to give Central Arkansas a 5–3 advantage.
Mark Ross added to the lead with a solo home run in the sixth inning. The Bears broke open the game in the eighth, capitalizing on an error and timely hits, including a three-RBI double from Negre that extended their lead to 11–4. Although Lipscomb answered with a two-run homer by Thomas, Central Arkansas maintained control of the game.
Pitcher Denver Hamilton threw six innings for Central Arkansas, allowing nine hits and four earned runs while striking out two batters without issuing any walks. Hunter Alexander pitched three innings of relief, giving up just one hit and striking out six batters while earning his first save.
Key performances included Negre’s four hits and four RBIs as well as Schattle’s three RBIs from his home run. Ross contributed two runs along with his own home run and stolen base.
Central Arkansas will continue its series against Lipscomb at 2 p.m. Saturday.
