Central Arkansas secured the 2025 ASUN Championship in women’s volleyball with a four-set victory over Eastern Kentucky in Fort Myers, Florida. The win gives Central Arkansas its first ASUN Tournament title and an automatic spot in the upcoming NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship.
Laci Bohannan led Central Arkansas with 24 kills on a .426 hitting percentage and finished with 27 points. “She tallied 27 points on the day, consistently providing the spark UCA leaned on in big moments,” according to the team.
Setter Caylan Koons reached a program milestone by surpassing 4,000 career assists during the match. Koons recorded 49 assists and nine digs while directing an offense that hit .262 overall.
Other key contributors included Gabby Tuiaana with 10 kills, Samantha Cousins with eight kills, and Greyson Button who added six kills at a .417 clip. Defensively, Central Arkansas totaled 30 block assists, led by Tuiaana’s seven and Button’s five. McKinzee Haas contributed four kills, two aces, and six blocks.
Libero Alexis McDaniel anchored the defense with 17 digs. Bohannan, Chaney, and Koons each had nine digs to help limit Eastern Kentucky’s offense.
After winning the first two sets, Central Arkansas dropped the third but responded to close out the match in four sets. The team will now represent the ASUN Conference as its automatic qualifier in the NCAA tournament. The Sugar Bears will learn their first-round opponent during the selection show on November 30.
The All-Tournament Team selections included Laci Bohannan (Tournament MVP), Caylan Koons, and Alexis McDaniel from Central Arkansas.
