Central Arkansas women’s basketball team will play two away games in Kentucky this week, starting with Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and then Bellarmine University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Sugar Bears have a record of 14-10 overall and are 7-5 in ASUN conference games. They have won their last three games, allowing just 44.6 points per game during that stretch. In their most recent game, they outscored North Alabama 34-22 in the second half to secure a win. Cheyanne Kemp led Central Arkansas in scoring for the third consecutive game with 16 points and is now ranked seventh in ASUN conference play with an average of 14.7 points per game.
The team’s current three-game winning streak has moved them into a tie for fourth place in the ASUN standings, only one game behind second place. This week’s schedule includes a matchup against EKU, who currently lead the conference, followed by Bellarmine, who are at the bottom of the standings.
In previous meetings this season, Central Arkansas defeated Bellarmine by a margin of 56 points—their largest win over a Division I opponent—but lost to EKU by ten points after falling behind late in the game.
EKU holds a record of 21-4 overall and is undefeated at 12-0 in conference play. The Colonels have won their last fourteen games and typically win by about twenty points per contest within the conference. Their leading scorers during ASUN games are Joseana Vaz and Ndidiamaka Ndukwe, each averaging 14.8 points per game.
However, EKU’s last two victories were closer than usual: they beat Lipscomb by six points and Austin Peay by seven last week—marking their first back-to-back single-digit wins since conference play began.
Bellarmine enters the week with a record of 2-23 overall and remains winless in twelve ASUN games this season. The Knights have lost twenty straight games while dealing with injuries and roster challenges; only three players have appeared in all twenty-five contests so far. Kayce Hyman leads Bellarmine with averages of 9.2 points per game as well as team-highs in field goals made (74) and free throws made (76).
Both upcoming Sugar Bears games will be streamed live on ESPN+, with additional coverage available through live stats online or radio broadcast via The Bear 91.3 featuring Steve Owens.
