The Central Arkansas women’s basketball team is preparing for an away game against Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday. The match will begin at 6 p.m. Central Time.
Central Arkansas, known as the Sugar Bears, currently holds an 11-10 overall record and a 4-5 mark in ASUN Conference play. In their most recent game, the team nearly completed a comeback against Stetson but ultimately lost after closing the gap to four points late in the contest. Shae Littleford and Bree Stephens each scored 15 points, while Cheyanne Kemp added 14.
At this point in the season, Central Arkansas ranks fourth in scoring offense with an average of 69.2 points per game and fifth in scoring defense allowing 63.0 points per game within the conference. Littleford leads the team’s offense with an average of 15.4 points per game, which is third-best among all ASUN players. Defensively, Linda Amaning (1.3 blocks per game), Stephens (1.0), and Kemp (0.6) are among the top shot blockers in league games for Central Arkansas; Paris Santacaterina (1.4 steals per game) and Stephens (1.3) are also among the top players for steals.
Central Arkansas has won all four previous meetings with Queens since they joined the ASUN Conference, including two victories last season—a 66-57 win in Charlotte and a 68-50 result at home.
Queens enters this week with an overall record of 8-13 and a conference record of 2-8. Last week, they defeated Bellarmine by a score of 100-48 before losing to Eastern Kentucky 74-59. Alyssa Lewis led Queens with a standout performance against Bellarmine, scoring 33 points primarily from three-point range; Jermany Mapp was the leading scorer against Eastern Kentucky with 16 points.
Mapp is currently Queens’ leading scorer for the season at an average of 10.6 points per game and is joined by Brenea Jones-Grant (10.4) and Ana Barreto (10.3) as double-digit scorers on the roster. Hannah Hicks leads her team both in rebounding (7.1 rebounds per game) and blocked shots (26).
