The Central Arkansas women’s basketball team is preparing for one of its last two road games of the regular season, facing West Georgia in an ASUN Conference matchup on Thursday. The game will take place in Carrollton, Georgia, with a scheduled tip-off at 1 p.m. CT.

Central Arkansas enters the contest with a 17-10 overall record and a 10-5 mark in conference play. In their most recent outing, the Sugar Bears secured their tenth ASUN win for the third consecutive season by defeating Austin Peay by four points on Wednesday. This victory extended their winning streak to six games. Four players reached double figures in scoring: Jenna Cook and Cheyanne Cook each scored 14 points, Shae Littleford contributed 12, and Bree Stephens added 11.

With only a few games remaining before the postseason, Central Arkansas is contending for a top-four seed in the ASUN standings, which would grant them a first-round bye in the conference tournament. The team is currently tied for third place with two other teams. Central Arkansas split its season series with Stetson and has an opportunity to sweep West Georgia, which would secure important tiebreakers. Since Central Arkansas and Stetson are tied head-to-head, NET rankings could determine seeding advantages.

Earlier this season, Central Arkansas defeated West Georgia at home with a decisive 87-66 victory. In that game, four Sugar Bears scored at least 15 points and the team shot 52 percent from the field.

West Georgia holds a 17-9 overall record and is also 10-5 in ASUN play. On Wednesday night, the Wolves narrowly beat Lipscomb in overtime by a score of 66-65 in Nashville. The majority of West Georgia’s scoring came from its starting lineup; three starters played more than 40 minutes each. Asia Donald led the team with an 18-point, ten-rebound double-double.

West Georgia’s recent performance reflects their typical style: relying heavily on starters for scoring while Destiny Jones provides support off the bench during generally low-scoring games. The Wolves have surpassed 70 points only six times in conference play but remain undefeated when scoring more than 66 points.

Saturday’s matchup will be streamed live on ESPN+, with additional coverage available through live stats online and radio commentary from Steve Owens on The Bear 91.3.
