After a strong performance against Grambling State, the Central Arkansas women’s basketball team received two weekly honors from the ASUN Conference. Bree Stephens was named ASUN Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Shae Littleford earned her first ASUN Newcomer of the Week award.
Stephens contributed 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in the game against Grambling State. This marks her third game this season with multiple tallies in every major statistical category, as well as her third game with more than one steal and block. She also tied for second-most career blocks in program history.
Littleford added 13 points and a career-high eight rebounds to the team’s win over Grambling State. She also recorded a team-high four assists and one steal. Her accuracy at the free-throw line—making seven out of eight attempts—was important for a team that has faced challenges with free throws earlier in the season. Littleford has scored double figures in all but one game so far.
Both players have been key contributors to Central Arkansas’ early success, helping lead the Sugar Bears to a 7-3 record through ten games. Together they average 26.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. Stephens leads in assists (26), steals (17) and blocks (18), while Littleford is second in steals (16) and third in assists (24).
Central Arkansas will play Louisiana Tech on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., continuing their road schedule.
