The Central Arkansas women’s basketball team will travel to Fayetteville for a matchup against the University of Arkansas on Monday, with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m.

Central Arkansas, currently holding a 1-1 record, recently secured a win in its home opener against Lyon College with a score of 115-43. The team applied strong defensive pressure throughout the game, forcing 36 turnovers and collecting 27 steals. This performance marks the third-highest single-game steal total in program history and is the first time since the 2021-22 season that the Sugar Bears have recorded at least 20 steals in a game.

Twelve players contributed to the scoring effort in Friday’s game, led by Cheyanne Kemp who achieved a career-high of 22 points. Five players scored in double figures, and the team made 15 three-pointers with an accuracy rate of 42 percent.

In their previous meeting last season, Central Arkansas scored 70 points but lost to Arkansas. That game represented the highest point total Central Arkansas has posted against Arkansas and included a notable performance from Bree Stephens, who scored 13 points.

Arkansas enters this season under new head coach Kelsi Musick, formerly of Oral Roberts. The Razorbacks are undefeated at 2-0 after recording double-digit victories over Louisiana Tech and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. They are averaging 97 points per game across their first two contests and have surpassed the 90-point mark in both games.

Five players from Arkansas are averaging double-digit points per game, with Bonnie Deas leading at an average of 18.5 points. The Razorbacks have collectively made 24 three-pointers this season while shooting at a rate of 44 percent as a team; eight different players have made at least one three-pointer so far.
