The Central Arkansas women’s basketball team is set to return to its home court at the Farris Center on Thursday, where it will face Bellarmine in an ASUN Conference matchup. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off.
Central Arkansas, holding an 8-6 overall record and 1-1 in conference play, recently completed a stretch of six consecutive road games, during which the team posted a 2-4 record. In their most recent games, the Sugar Bears secured a win against Stetson by limiting their opponent to just 17 points in the second half but then fell to FGCU despite holding them to their lowest point total in series history.
Returning home appears favorable for Central Arkansas, as the team has maintained a strong record at the Farris Center over the past two-plus seasons, going 31-3. This season, they are undefeated at home with three wins, including a Division I victory over Arkansas State on November 19.
Historically, Central Arkansas leads Bellarmine 5-2 in head-to-head matchups. Last season’s loss to Bellarmine in Louisville sparked a 12-game winning streak for Central Arkansas that contributed to their second-place finish in the ASUN standings. In their subsequent meeting during the ASUN Championship opener, Bree Stephens scored 18 points on efficient shooting.
Bellarmine arrives with a challenging start to its season, posting a 2-13 overall record and losing both of its opening conference games. The Knights have struggled defensively in recent outings, allowing more than 100 points in three of their last four contests. The team has relied heavily on seven players during conference play; Kayce Hyman leads with an average of 15 points per game while Rose Jamison contributes 10.5 points per game and ranks among three players with multiple three-pointers.
The upcoming game will be available for streaming on ESPN+, with live statistics accessible online. Fans can also listen to radio coverage provided by Steve Owens on 91.3 The Bear.
