The Central Arkansas women’s soccer team concluded its season with a 1-0 loss to North Alabama on Sunday in Conway, Arkansas. The defeat brought the Bears’ final record to 6-9-2 overall and 3-5-2 in ASUN Conference play.
The match was closely contested during the first half, with both teams having opportunities but neither able to score until the 30th minute. At that point, North Alabama was awarded a penalty kick and converted it for the game’s only goal.
Following the senior day celebrations, Central Arkansas continued to push for an equalizer before halftime but managed just one more shot prior to the break. In the second half, North Alabama increased its offensive pressure, but goalkeeper Anna Kathryn Harrell and her defense prevented any further goals.
Central Arkansas created several scoring chances late in the game. Brianna Lopez tested North Alabama’s goalkeeper in the 67th minute, while Caroline Billings had two promising attempts as time wound down. Despite these efforts, Central Arkansas could not find a way to tie the match before time expired.
“We gave everything we had today,” said head coach Jeremy Bishop. “I’m proud of our seniors and how hard this team fought all season.”
