Graduate guard Shae Littleford has been named the ASUN Newcomer of the Week, according to an announcement from the ASUN on Tuesday. The recognition follows a strong week for Littleford, who has played a key role in leading Central Arkansas to five consecutive wins.
Littleford is currently one of the top performers for the Central Arkansas women’s basketball team. She leads her team and ranks third in the ASUN conference with an average of 14.3 points per game. Additionally, she is third in free throws made with 89, sixth in three-pointers with 42, and fourth in steals with 44.
Last week, Littleford helped guide Central Arkansas to victories over Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) and Bellarmine. The win against EKU was notable as it came against a previously unbeaten opponent. Under Littleford’s leadership, Central Arkansas limited EKU to just 48 points—a season low for a team that typically averages over 70 points per game. This marked the fourth straight game where Central Arkansas held its opponent under 50 points. In the matchup against EKU, Littleford scored a game-high 18 points, collected five rebounds, and added a steal.
This marks Littleford’s second time earning Newcomer of the Week honors this season. She has scored double figures in all but four games and has helped position Central Arkansas as the No. 3 seed heading into the ASUN Championship with four regular-season games remaining.
Central Arkansas will play their next home game on Wednesday at the Farris Center against Austin Peay, with tip-off scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
