Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Central Arkansas

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.7 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Central Arkansas, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Arkansas residents paid $8,752 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $228 more than the $8,524 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 74.5 percent more than residents this year, or $15,275. Their price tag grew 1.5 percent from $15,047 in 2017-18.

About 88 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Arkansas residents. About 10 percent are residents of other states and 2 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 98 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,832 students received grants or scholarships totaling $13.8 million and 994 students took out student loans totaling more than $8.5 million.

Including all undergraduates (11,177), 7,874 students used grants or scholarships totaling $62.3 million, and 4,994 students took out $38.5 million in federal student loans.
