Conway Corporation issued the following announcement on Oct. 5.
On the morning of Wednesday, August 25, paint hit the wall at 1100 Oak Street. The latest downtown Conway mural project was commissioned by the Creative Institute thanks to a sponsorship from Conway Corp. The mural features data and electricity traveling across a motherboard in a 70s retro style. The work seeks to communicate that every flourishing and vibrant community recognizes the need for creativity and art as essential infrastructure alongside electricity and internet access.
The mural is the work of renowned local artist, Jessica Jones, whose work is featured throughout Conway, Central Arkansas and the region. This is her latest contribution to the interior of the EM building, home to the Studio Downtown and the Creative Institute. After the Conway Corp mural is complete, Jessica will begin work on the next stretch of the wall, sponsored by the Conway Chamber of Commerce. By the end of the year, the building will host three street-facing murals and six more interior murals.
“The arts play an important role in the quality of life in Conway. We were excited to see the work the Creative Institute is doing and are happy to be included with one of their featured murals,” Chief Marketing Officer Crystal Kemp said.
