Arkansas Department of Commerce - Conway Local Office issued the following announcement on Mar.12.
Conway area businesses have been the indirect beneficiary of a little known COVID relief program. Since the spring of 2020 $31.6 million dollars has been paid directly to Conway area college students.

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) was created and funded as part of the federal COVID response. Starting in May 2020, this legislation provided funds to colleges and universities to assist students with expenses related to the disruption of campus operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Conway's four area colleges and universities distributed more than $31 million to students. The funds were given to students unencumbered. Students were able to use the funds in any way they wish to help with hardships incurred due to COVID-19.
