Conway city issued the following announcement on April 12.
The outdoor warning siren near Conway Fire Department Station #5 on Wescon Ln will not be operational this week. In the event of a tornado, this siren will not make a sound. If you live within the radius of this siren, then please take time to find an additional method of obtaining severe weather alerts. #arwx
If a tornado warning is issued, the system will activate sirens and safe rooms simultaneously. The safe rooms aren't dependent upon a single siren to activate them.

The storm shelters, which are located throughout the city, are available for use by the public during non-school hours. School hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday during the school year.
