UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL ARKANSAS: Events Promote Dialogue and Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month

The University of Central Arkansas is observing Hispanic Heritage Month beginning on Thursday, Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 with university groups planning a variety of celebratory events.

UCA’s Office of Diversity and Community is hosting a series of visiting food trucks that will be parked outside of the Ronnie Williams Student Center, showcasing the broad range of Hispanic cuisine. The first food truck, Las Delicias, was on campus Sept. 15 giving away free ice cream to its first 70 customers.

The Latino Student Association (LSA) will also host two events to celebrate the month: Culture Sticker Boards and Strick the Piñata are both opportunities to meet students and explore other cultures.

Hispanic Heritage Month will conclude with UCA’s Annual Amigo Fest celebration. At the amphitheater in front of the Ronnie Williams Student Center, the festival will include folk dancers, a DJ, food trucks and giveaways. This event is free and open to the public and will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
