Planting Seeds | St. Joseph Church - Conway(PxHere)

Some Wednesday mornings when I arrive early for the School Mass I slip into the chapel where my heart is warmed by the sight of a class of little ones kneeling quietly (as much as it is possible for little ones) before the Blessed Sacrament. They are accompanied by their teachers who are witnesses to seeds being planted by the Lord as Sr. Maria Miguel Wright, O.P writes in the February 1st. Heart of the Revival Newsletter. Sister shares her personal experience as a middle school teacher introducing her young students to adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. I imagine that our teachers and parents at St. Joseph’s began with the basics of how to genuflect and, of course, frequent reminders not to talk or turn around. Sister Maria remembers how her students gradually became more quiet and still before the Blessed Sacrament as she would speak to them about whom they were sitting in front of and how much Jesus desired to be with them and love them. Teachers and parents, I applaud each of you for doing your part to open your children to a deeper understanding of Jesus in the Eucharist. You are helping them come to know Him as that trusted friend who takes root in their hearts as they receive Him in Holy Communion. Do you notice how some of your children look forward to the stillness and quiet before the monstrance? Perhaps, this place of silence becomes a welcome haven from a culture as noisy and busy as ours. Sister Maria believes that it is in these quiet moments that the Lord plants seeds. These are the seeds that prayer will continue to water until each child is chosen for a particular vocation to married life, the single state, priesthood, or religious life. Sister Maria shares her own call to consecrated life that was indeed fostered by time in adoration where she longed for a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. From what I have read and heard from other religious and priests this is a common theme in many vocation stories. So teachers and parents, take heart! You may very well be planting seeds for our future priests, religious sisters, and/or saints
