As we continue on our journey in 2023 it is important to realize the importance of endurance as it relates to loving our neighbor. There are a multitude of difficult experiences which human beings will face. The challenges to human dignity and the freedom of individuals to flourish in our parish and city are numerous. These experiences can serve as distractions and induce weariness within our lives. Our commitment to annunciate powerfully for human beings who exist in the womb, work in our schools, stand on street corners, or raise voices to Christ in corporate worship will be challenged by the weariness. In your weariness remember Christ himself kept his eyes fixed on the glory set before him. He has promised to walk with his brothers and sisters. He speaks in the silence of prayer, in your devotion, and the celebration of the Mass. Be encouraged. As image bearers of God, we as persons have the capability to speak on behalf of others. We can raise our voices loudly, pen a note, or speak in prayer. In your weariness and it will come, remember Christ who shares in our humanity is present and will aid our quivering voices to speak on behalf of ourselves and our neighbors.
